Favourite authors

My list of favourite authors varies now and again, but my current "Top 10" are below (in alphabetical order). Some of the authors are among my favourites because of a single book that has struck me strongly and others are there because I have read and enjoyed many of their books. Compiling a short list of 30 authors, was not too difficult, but shortening it to just ten was much harder.
